Sơn Tinh – Thủy Tinh "The Mountain's God VS The Water's God," is a famous Vietnamese myth. This myth explains the practice of tidal irrigation and devastating floods in Vietnam. It is to be said the King requested three gifts from each of the God’s to win he the hand of his daughter, the princess. The gifts to be boughten were three maned horses, three tusked elephants and three cocks. The Mountain’s God was the first to hand over the gifts and take the princess by the hand. Now every year viscous floods occur because The Water’s God is still angry he did not win the hand of the princess.
